SYNOPSIS
Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price-and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull it off alone...
A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction-if they don't kill each other first.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo returns to the breathtaking world of the Grishaverse in this unforgettable tale about the opportunity-and the adventure-of a lifetime.

PERSONAL REVIEW
I’m going to be honest, this synopsis was not a huge selling point for me and I really dragged my feet when it came to reading this book. I ended up reading the Grisha trilogy first and figured I may as well continue it by reading the Six of Crows duology.

AND THANK GOODNESS I DID!

I ended up loving the Six of Crows and all the characters (seriously, I currently have a 3-way-tie for who is my actual favourite happening) and cannot wait to read the sequel.

What I Loved:

  • Strong characters: Bardugo has a history of creating strong female characters, but it was in this series that I felt like she had also wrote in strong male characters as their counterparts. Every characters in the Six of Crows duology has a clear personality and a strong voice when narrating their characters. A good author can write from different perspectives and make you feel like you are genuinely listening to different people speaking; Bardugo seems to do this with ease
  • Exciting Plot That Moves with Ease: With so many storylines and plot twists, it would easy for the movement of the novel to be halted or awkward, but I’m happy to say that this was not the case at all. Bardugo weaves the plotlines into each other, with all the strings secretly being pulled by the ingenious Kaz Brekker.
  • A Believable Magical Land: I love fantasy novels, especially when the worlds they live in are so convincingly described that I actually think they could be real places. There’s probably nothing worse then reading a fantasy series and just not believing in the world you’re reading about. Every city we visited in Six of Crows were so well described that it makes the reader feel a bit bad that they won’t be able to see it for themselves in reality.

FINAL RATING: 5/5
